Selected Project
Mid-Century Modern
Like many of our residential projects, the highest priority for our clients was to refurbish the kitchen and family living areas of their mid-century Modern house. The first key to success for such projects is to resolve a plan that provides a good working kitchen, while catering for the more fluid needs of a busy family. This project involved removing walls and reorienting the kitchen The second key is to design and detail joinery, fittings and finishes to engage the senses and complement the original house. Our aim here was to set up a “conversation” between new and old, recognising that Modernism itself is now a continuous tradition. The splashes of bold red balance the cool greens and blues of the harbour and trees seen through the windows.
