Selected Project
St Georges Hospital
Today St George’s is the second largest private hospital in New Zealand, and development of the site including the 1920s Heritage Building, new Consulting Rooms, Ward accommodation, Operating Theatres and Recovery, Radiology and Cardiac suites, provides Canterbury with a leading edge in Healthcare facilities. The architect’s Brief for the new Clinical Services Building was that they should reflect St George’s strong standing in the community, provide hospital accommodation and services comparable to a modern high quality hotel. The design objective was to provide a building sympathetic to the Heritage Hospital and linked by an architectural structure of glass and metal symbolizing today’s high tech medical capabilities.
