House of Emotions
This house, developed within the constrained site in Palmerston North, is intended to provide a compact but comfortable refuge catering to the demands of a couple planning for their retirement. The materials and colours applied to this residence signify the seasonal journey of the protected pin oak leaves. Yones of green, red and orche yellow are used in a controlled and sensitive fashion throughout the building to echo this. The amalgamation of traditional forms and natural materials with a contemporary design philosophy recalls the historical significance of the site while emphasising on the transition from past to present.
