Wellesley Club Freemasons Room

Westminster Lodge of the NZ Freemasons had been seeking to relocate into the Wellington CBD for a number of years. When a collection of members purchased a controlling share of the Wellesley building BKBTA were engaged to transform the old billiard room of the Wellesley Club into a new Freemasons room. The interior work included careful planning to accommodate the ceremonial requirements and historic furniture of the lodge. The seating was designed to sit 150 persons. Intricate detailing was required for the specification of the Masonic pavement and star ceiling plus many other features. The star window was conceived and constructed in-house and displays the star cluster of Peladies. It contains 650 plus optical fibres of ranging diameters. The unique raised seating at the rear allowed for storage of the lodge regalia and equipment.
