Hutt Activity Centre
The Hutt Valley Activity Centre operates as a school on a day to day basis with its student population being drawn from throughout the Valley. The secondary level students have a range of learning and behavioural needs that can be better supported in a specialised environment. Bell Kelly Beaumont has responded to the challenge of developing a new facility to accommodate the diverse and still developing programme that is operated by the Hutt Valley Activity Centre. The building includes multi-purpose classroom spaces, Gymnasium, Audio Visual Room as well as staff administration facilities. The brief places high demands on student and staff safety and security as well as requiring a welcoming and non-institutional feel. Environmentally Sustainable Design principles were also incorporated into the design to reduce the ongoing the environmental impact of the facility.
