Hamilton Boys' High School Gymnasium
The school is overwhelmed by their wonderful new facility they have for use. The school received a large gymnasium fit for International Basketball, Badminton and Volleyball. A new fitness centre connected the existing gymnasiums creating the keystone for the complex. Durability was a key requirement in the brief which was created with the use of natural precast concrete which complemented the rich colours of the timber used throughout the complex. The architecture that Stiles and Hooker has designed for the school complement the historic architecture of the school through proportion, materiality, form and function. Stiles and Hooker have generated a strong relationship with the Ministry of Education during our work with the school and understand MOE protocols and requirements exceptionally well.
