Westgate
Westgate is the story of developing a retail centre on an urban boundary, to create the potential for future metropolitan growth. RCG master planned the site in the early nineties, but it took ten years and three changes of ownership, for a local developer, new to retail, to take the plunge. The site has gone from being an anonymous green fields site, to becoming a well-known suburb of Auckland, to being tagged as one of four emergent metropolitan centres of Auckland; along with Albany, Sylvia Park and Botany Today the centre has over 50,000m2 of retail and commercial space, and is a vibrant and financially sound development.
