Sileni Estates Winery and Lodge

Sileni Estates Winery encapsulates the wine making operation simultaneously with public participation in the wine and food experience, The simple building form of the winery compliments the natural landscape of Mareakakaho Road, Bridge Pa. The building is divided into two main parts, an operation area and the commercial area. The public entry portico, three storeys high access the restaurants, commercial and administration areas with visual links into the commercial area with vistas into the tank farm and to the cellars. Landscaping is integrates with the design to incorporate service functions such as water collection, waste disposal. New Zealand Institute of Architects citation reads – “ This is a powerful building that makes a statement on the site, as well as encompassing all aspects of the winemaking production. It proclaims itself from the moment you turn into the driveway. Good use is made of symmetry and classical “arrival” vocabulary. It offers the visitor many options from wine sampling and shopping below, to restaurants at the ground level and onto the Boardroom on high, Sileni Estates Lodge located on the Sileni Estates Keruru vineyard is ten kilometres west of the winery at Mareakakaho. With distant views to the Kawekas and Te Mata Peak, the simple gabled roofed verandahed building nestles in the vineyard. Providing accommodation for the international wine and food connoisseurs associated with Sileni Winery as well as a first class venue for conferences and functions in the Hawkes Bay area. Comfortable accommodation for twelve guests in ensuited bedrooms with a central living dining area on polished concrete floors with a unique double sided fireplace, a small maturation cellar and other spaces at upper levels for TV, Library and writing rooms
