Selected Project
Grey Lynn School
Brought on board in late 2013 to look at roll growth within the school. This led to a distinct phase of master planning, to facilitate the roll targets. Key design criteria were to maintain as much open outdoor space as possible, on this tight site, and to use the building to create an accessible route across its steep contours. The three/two storey building containing flexible learning spaces, to the equivalent of 18 classrooms, a library/resource area, and an administration block which runs down the eastern boundary of the property opening up the centre of the site for play spaces. This central open area of the school can be used as a gathering space, its terraces and overlooking balconies functioning as an amphitheatre. The design of the teaching spaces was driven by a desire to create a more collaborative teaching experience
