Waikato Diocesan School for Girls - New Sports Education Centre
The start of 2012 saw staff and students at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls begin enjoying their new Sports Education Centre. The centre features a large ground floor fitness centre and associated changing rooms, and houses the school stationery and uniform stores. A glazed atrium and entry allows natural light and ventilation into the teaching, office and meeting spaces on the upper floor. Large glazed areas in the fitness room take advantage of the spectacular gully outlook, and the exterior design manages to blend with the character of existing buildings on campus while also looking modern and fresh. Sustainability is of great importance to the School, and sustainable design principles formed an integral part of the building's design and construction.
