St Marys Bay House
This project was for an addition and alteration to an existing Victorian villa in one of Auckland's character areas. The strategy was a tried and tested one which involved the removal of the existing lean-to at the rear being replaced with a contemporary addition. Walking through the old hallway is rewarded with glimpses of the new addition and pool at the rear. On arrival at the end of the hallway visitors step down onto a new polished concrete floor and immediately enter a large volume which contains the living, dining and kitchen. Large, full height glass sliders connect the space to the outside area making the inside and outside feel as one when the doors are open and the new swimming pool can be viewed from any corner of the addition.
