Muratai Primary School Library

Muritai Primary School wanted their new technology-rich library to be the main focus of the school campus, to provide an attractive alternative to outdoor play for students and to send a clear message that “Libraries are Cool!” The new building's curved form creates a welcoming entrance to the school and its interior spaces provide both an engaging learning environment, and an adaptable community facility. The space houses the library, a cosy 'kiva' breakout space and a flexible activity space at the centre of the building which is configured to allow use by a mix of group sizes including large group activities. The colourful dynamic space has become a well-used resource, a highly visible and engaging focus of learning at Muritai School.
