Amesbury School

Amesbury School is a ‘must see’ example of a 21st Century modern learning environment in Wellington, and an OECD Centre for Effective Learning Environments Exemplar Facility. The new school's design is focussed on learning rather than teaching, with flexibility, environmental quality and opportunities for indoor and outdoor learning in a myriad of configurations. The incorporation of technology and an awareness that this will evolve and develop is a central design component. Much of the school is under one roof; in part due to the cold windy local climate, but more importantly to create a gathering place to encourage engagement between the school and the local community. It is a place that the children, teachers and the broader community identify with, and have adopted as a valuable local resource.
