The Mt Eden Methodist Church and Hall

The Mt Eden Methodist Church and Hall have been restored and a new entrance way and central facilities enable the buildings to be used by the Church and local community. The Mt Eden Methodist Church is a historic timber gothic church constructed in 1900 with an adjacent hall built a decade later. Changes over time had stripped much of the original timber detailing. The project has enhanced the architectural significance of the church and hall, marrying existing buildings with a new link and entrance way. In conjunction with landscape and street works, the building restoration work and design of the new link reinforces the Mt Eden Methodist Church and Hall as a key element of the Mt Eden Village in Auckland. The colour scheme is based on investigation of the original colours used and the project is a finalist in the Dulux Colour Awards, 2011.
