Selected Project

Maori Hill House

A distinguished new family home designed by Mason & Wales Architects, sits on a commanding site in the suburb of Maori Hill, with panoramic views over Dunedin City. The style of the house is a modern interpretation of stately homes in this region. The property has been designed and constructed as a synthesis of tradition and innovation, with the highest level of craftsmanship and the latest technologies throughout. The house is clad in subtly textured cream coloured plaster that is articulated with smooth borders that mark the various architectural elements of the building. The Interiors are crafted with an accumulation of patterns and textures that have been detailed into the floor coverings, timber profiles, joinery and ceilings. An opulent level of finish is evident throughout the whole property, with splendid interior furnishings, and comprehensive landscaping that continue through to the smallest of details. Features include an indoor swimming pool that is connected to the living spaces by a glazed sunroom, an underground wine cellar beneath the grand entry space, as well as a chefs kitchen and home theatre that have been incorporated seamlessly into the fabric of the house. The project speaks of a successful collaboration between the project team, including the client, architects, master builder, contractors, interior designer and landscaper. This magnificent property has been built to be actually used, lived in - and enjoyed. Over time it will age gracefully, and show the character of its happy owners. The finished result is a distinguished home that satisfies the client’s dreams, responds to its context and is enriched by quality craftsmanship throughout.
