Peters Studio & Garden Room 2012
The car has made way for an art/sewing Studio and Garden Room, reversing the usual hierarchy of the car + lawn in the typical suburban New Zealand street. The re-claimed Garage & Carport re-orients and extends towards the dense mounded planting (design by Nick James Design). Internally, the textured ceiling is derived from a segment of John Pule's 'Maveheaga - Manako' (2006), with his permission. (A privilege that will never be taken for granted.) The result is indebted to the character of his extraordinary aesthetic. Images: Andrew Lowe
