Selected Project
Inland House
The site was a secret valley that had been carved from a large farm. We wanted to acknowledge and celibate that heritage and explore what a “country house” could be basing it on country buildings. Farms are always a collection of structures and this project features 3 buildings that seek to create a array of interstitial spaces and cross views. A “red shed” for the garage and workshop is pure nostalgia, whereas the main building, containing the bedroom and living areas, takes the form of a classic double height timber slatted hay barn and occupies it with stacked black ply forms and concrete block walls set into the slopes. A colorsteel tower acts as a sentinel for the valley and a separated bed and breakfast apartment.
