North Shore Events Centre Development
The original building built, in the late 1980’s, provided spectator seating for approximately 2500 for events such as basketball, netball and gymnastics. The demand to cater for large scale spectator sports and events required an increase in size of the facility to cope with 5000 seated spectators. A fourth basketball court was also added. Flexibility was important for the stadiums future viability while providing a facility of international standard and capacity to stage such events as the Australian NBL games and concerts. Increased capacity was achieved by extending the building to the north, west and east. Consideration was also given to additional public amenities, telemedia coverage of events and the increased reliance on electronics to enrich the viewing experience. The North Shore now has a facility that can cater for sports, expos, banquet dinners and concerts.
