UCOL Whanganui Campus
This once derelict building has been given a new life incorporating modern services for a tertiary training institute whilst preserving and enhancing its historic art deco features. Restoration of the Henry D Bennett Building is a symbolic component in the redevelopment of the UCOL Wanganui Campus Project. Resource Consent approvals included the requirement for a Conservation Plan for the preservation of its many historically significant features. External renovation includes replacement of steel windows and reinstatement and repairs to the building envelope. A once large internal warehouse space has been structurally upgraded and remodeled including seismic strengthening. Original interiors have been refurbished and replicated. New services are separated from the building fabric to achieve an expression of a modern, flexible and functional interior.
