Ministry of Primary Industries Building
When the Ministry of Primary Industries wanted to merge and re-house their three separate worksites in Hawke’s Bay into one single space, PMA was engaged to meet with MPI and develop accommodation plans to unite the various programmes within the operation. While also providing a modern open plan office space that was flexible enough to cater for future requirements. The Ahuriri Ossian Road warehouse site was identified as a suitable, central location. PMA undertook a spatial audit, ran user group workshops and prepared floor/operational plans. Architecturally the existing prosaic exterior has been enlivened, with layering added through window cut-outs, canopies, corten-preforated screens and a feature corner window. Internally, the original timber and steel structure has been left exposed, providing a counterpoint to the contemporary redevelopment within.
