Eichardt's Hotel, Lakefront Apartments

The design may appear traditional, but the architectural aim was always aimed at complementing the street scale rather than copying the style. The exterior colours have been treated simply to allow it to blend with the other buildings also. Considerable attention was paid to ensure the new building fitted comfortably between a row of historic cottages. Both council and NZ Historic Places Trust consent had to be achieved, and both entities were delighted with our design. The design allows four high quality apartments. This comprises two up and two down, with a central stair case providing access to the upper apartments. Due to the lake being to the south, and the tall building to the north, sun access was a design challenge. As such the upper apartments have skylights and fire rated elevation windows. The lower apartments have either the conservatory or outdoor courtyard as additional living areas because theses apartments have less sun. The cottage suite apartments are managed by Eichardts Hotel.
