Beach House
This house was designed for a couple that loves the horizontal forms of the early modernists. They wanted their house to connect with the rolling sand dunes at the front of their property and be a haven for entertaining. The property borders the beachfront and has a landscape of rolling sand dunes out to the Tasman Sea, with views extending from Mt. Taranaki to the Tararua Ranges and Kapiti Island. The home is a series of floating platforms that connect to the sand dunes at the front of the property. The platforms float out from a central chimney and schist fireplace that anchors the house and creates a focal point for entertaining.
