The Aston, Great North Road
The Aston is on the site of a former car sales yard in a portion of Auckland’s Great North Road that is dominated by that use. Holdam Ltd, the project’s developer, believed that a higher and better use for the area was overdue, a view shared by Auckland City’s Town Planners, justified by broad views over Waitemata Harbour and the Waitakere Ranges and proximity to the CBD. The Aston has 1000m2 of commercial space at ground floor fronting to Great North Road and 32 apartments above. Two detached villas provide a buffer to the heritage worker cottage precinct behind.
