Northern Glen Innes Redevelopment
Old State houses are notorious for being cold and damp, so Housing New Zealand’s plan to replace 156 1940s units in Northern Glen Innes with modern, healthy homes promises to be a game changer. Construkt is the concept architect for the Creating Communities consortium – comprised of Arrow International, Southside Group, Hopper Developments and Dryden Property – which is subdividing the generous lots to build up to 330 new houses. Of these 78 will revert to Housing New Zealand ownership while the rest become private homes, including 39 classed as affordable. The first stage of building has now been completed, and the next phase – constructing 127 warmer, drier, healthier homes – is currently underway.
