Selected Project

Hobson Wharf National Maritime Museum

Hobson Wharf National Maritime Museum, designed by Construkt (then Deighton Gibbs Architects) and documented in joint venture with Jasmax, required sufficient mass and variety of displays and activities to encourage repeat visits. It needed sufficient building, quayside space, and berthage to accommodate a wide and varied collection of exhibits, interactive displays, dynamic workshops and the Museum’s extensive fleet of heritage vessels - a $16 million work list to fit into a $12 million budget. Construkt’s industrial style building proved to be a neat fit with the clients wish for a working wharf flavour and the tight budget. Construkt and joint venture partners Jasmax won the Property Council Premier and Public Sector Awards for this project in 1996.
