Selected Project
Pumpstation 11, Christchurch
A successful integration of a city infrastructure project into a finely grained suburban context. The buildings invite the public to engage by bringing circulation and open spaces into the site. Finely landscaped areas embellished with delicate steel pergolas, and the delightful play of materials and detailing of the building forms contribute to human scale and the sense of invitation. An expressively modern building typology that cleverly celebrates its functionality whilst respecting its neighbours. An exemplar of a collaborative process which proves architecture has a place in all areas of the public realm. The solution is as unexpected as it is and joyous.
