Onehunga Foreshore Design & Build
We saw this project as more than a simple physical restoration of the foreshore. It was an opportunity for metaphysical ‘restoration’, healing and repair for the Onehunga community. With that in mind the overall vision for the project was one of connection. Our approach was to make visible or at least ‘hint at’ the hidden stories behind our ever-changing landscapes. This approach incorporates more than protection and conservation; it is about learning and celebration, respecting past and present stories while creating opportunities for new ones. It is more deeply concerned with cultural identity and a sense of belonging. Chow:Hill worked in collaboration with HEB Construction, SKM, Andrew.Stewart, Bespoke, Studio Pasifika and Bioresearches on this project.
