Workshop 1: 9.00am-12.00pm
Sensible Atlas for Auckland
Facilitated by Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse (Barclay & Crousse)
• Walk the city with Sandra and Jean Pierre, broaden your horizons and feed your imagination. Draw and build a narrative to create an atlas for the city, acknowledging its complexities and systems.
Note: includes transport to and from the workshop* venue. Walking is a large part of this workshop (2 hours) on a route to be determined by the presenters.
12.00pm-1.00pm Lunch for all attendees from Workshop 1 and Workshop 2.

Biggie Smalls
Workshop facilitated by Kai-Uwe Bergmann (Bjarke Ingels Group - BIG) and Jeremy Smith (Irving Smith Architects)
• You will be working together to tackle some BIG infrastructure problems in Auckland and answering some BIG questions. This workshop is about looking for ideas to solve future problems and focus on something that you can have an impact on – creating a different vision for the future of the city.
* Venue for the Workshops is the Bishop Selwyn Chapel, cnr St Stephens Ave & Parnell Road, Parnell.
Attendees can only attend one workshop – this includes lunch and all materials are provided.

We're proud to announce Oliver Wainwright as MC and an international keynote speaker.
Oliver Wainwright trained as an architect and worked in practice before pivoting to journalism. He has been The Guardian’s architecture and design critic since 2012, is a visiting critic at several architecture schools and is also a published author.

Junya Ishigami established his eponymous practice in Tokyo 2004 after working for four years at Pritzker prize-winning practice SANAA. Described as a structural alchemist, Junya is regarded for his highly experimental designs and poetic vision. Significant projects include the Park Groot Vijversburg Visitor Center in The Netherlands, 2019 Serpentine Pavilion in London, and Botanical Garden Art Biotop Water Garden in Tochigi and House & Restaurant in Ube, both of which are in Japan.

Sandra Barclay and Jean Pierre Crousse have been in partnership for 30 years. They established Barclay & Crousse Architecture in Paris in 1994 and Lima, Peru, in 2006.
The Barclay & Crousse portfolio encompasses award-winning projects across the private and public sectors and reveals their exploration of the bonds between architecture and landscape. They have both been visiting professors at Yale, Harvard and the University of Virginia, and are long-standing Associate Professors at PUCP in Lima, Peru.

The Studio has a diverse portfolio across the Americas and Europe and develops research, publications and exhibitions that generate change through design. A Professor in Practice at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Jeanne has been named one of TIME magazine’s most influential people in the world.

New York-based Kai-Uwe Bergmann is a partner with BIG and oversees the company’s urban and landscape projects in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He recently contributed to BIG U, the resiliency plan to protect 16 kilometres of Manhattan coastline, which is due for completion in 2026.
Kai-Uwe, FAIA, studied architecture at the University of Virginia and has held teaching positions at the University of Pennsylvania, IE University in Madrid, and his alma mater.
