Interior Designer - Ministry

Ministry is an award winning design practice delivering projects of scale, elegance and enduring value. Our main studio is in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, with team members in Palmerston North, Christchurch and Queenstown. Our 30 person team works across commercial interiors, hospitality, recreation, residential, commercial, education, aged care, masterplanning and more throughout Aotearoa.

We are looking for an Interior Designer with a minimum of four years experience. This is a mid level role that sits alongside our talented interiors team and below senior designers and our Head of Interiors. We are seeking someone with a strong design sensibility, good client skills and solid construction knowledge. The role involves preparing clear, coordinated documentation suitable for pricing, tender, building consent and construction, and working closely with consultants to make sure everything fits together before it gets to site.

The Role
You will work across all stages of interior design, from early spatial planning and concept development to detailed design, documentation, FF&E and construction phase support. You will help deliver interior environments that are thoughtful, functional and built to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:
• Developing interior concepts, spatial layouts and material palettes
• Preparing clear, well coordinated documentation, drawings, schedules and specifications
• Working with consultants, suppliers and contractors to resolve details and maintain design intent
• Prepare thorough tender and consent / construction documentation
• Producing presentations, sample boards and client ready design material
• Managing timeframes, design quality and communication through each stage
• Engaging confidently with clients and industry partners

About You
• 4+ years industry experience
• A portfolio showing design thinking, materiality, detailing and documentation capability
• Experience preparing documentation for pricing, tender, consent and construction
• Confidence coordinating with services, seismic and structural consultants
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Software
• Archicad experience preferred
• Adobe Creative Cloud for presentations
