The 2013 Student Design Awards
Sex(uality) and the City: Counteracting the Cock-ups of Auckland’s Main Strip, by University of Auckland School of Architecture and Planning student Raphaela Rose, is the winner of the 2013 NZIA Graphisoft Student Design Awards.
This year’s two highly commended projects were also by University of Auckland students. Extraction lands and their re-use provided a starting point for Nathan Swaney’s designs for a shipbreaking yard and seafarer’s centre in Taranaki, while Sacha Milojevic chose an inner city urban swathe, ambitiously reimagining it as a suburb-connecting site with geological complexity.
