Parsonson Beach House by Parsonson Architects

Citation

An imaginative, thoughtful and rewarding sequence of spatial experiences from when you first arrive. Moving through the semi-enclosed spaces leading up to the entrance and then into the interior where the living area dramatically opens the house up to its coastal environment. The drama continues off the open living area along a passage enriched with colour and light into the more enclosed intimate sleeping areas. Faithful to the traditions of the bach and holiday living, this is a thoroughly honest house that sits gently on the land with an unassuming presence. It is assured but not assertive. Simple but still rewards the viewer with subtle complexities that always have a sound architectural reason for their presence. It is a house that has its roots in this country that all jury members immediately recognised, responded to and felt completely at home in. A house from the heart that touches the soul.
