This delightful, cleverly designed compact studio is positioned on an elevated site to take advantage of views and light. The building footprint is small, but the sense of volume created through double-height space is impressive. The architect’s use of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) technology led to rapid on-site assembly with construction waste minimised – in fact, CLT off-cuts have been repurposed as furniture, doors and integrated joinery. This project illustrates how thoughtful design can limit a carbon footprint and optimise energy performance. It is an exceptional cabin.
