Beggars Roost
Subtle and thoughtful alterations to this 1960’s John Blair house set a fine example of how to add 21st century comfort and light, while staying true to the exposed structure and elegant form. Only small corners of space have been added to modernise the planning, while a new box window, updated dormers and chimney are sensitive formal additions that work with the old and stand proudly against it. The wide new stairs and relocated kitchen have improved connections between inside and out, and the judicious use of paint has lightened the interior and defined the existing structure.
