2019 Canterbury Architecture Awards Winner
Madras Street
Simple and compact, yet still packing punch, these two comfortable dwellings appear to have landed effortlessly on a small site and could just as easily be dismantled and recycled. The architect has filtered all considerations into a rigorous plan, coming up not with a box but with a quirky, asymmetric gable form that brings personality to the neighbourhood. The timber-lined interiors suggest a sophisticated alpine cabin where every building element has a purpose and everything non-essential has been excluded.
