This is a monumental yet restrained and timeless design that reflects the history of the Latter Day Saints church by emulating elements from the original temple. In this work, the architect has simultaneously challenged and achieved the client’s brief. The solidity of building form complements the American modernism of the neighbouring buildings, and the elevated building platform provides an ascending journey up to the entry. Throughout, the aesthetic emphasis is on the simple expression of high quality materials and finishes. Glazed links punctuate landscaped courtyards, separating community and administrative functions, while a stone wall acts as an interface between the two main building forms providing a subtle sensory contrast to the purity of the crisp white building exterior.
