Ellis House
An earthquake rebuild, this Fendalton house with a light, airy, contemporary form replaces a Georgian-style brick home while meeting the mandatory requirement to maintain a similar size and footprint. The client is clearly grateful to architect David Sheppard for his help in navigating the insurance and managed-rebuild process. Views and connections to the saved garden are lovely, and internal spaces are clear yet flexible, with privacy and transparency skillfully balanced.
