New Zealand Post House
A concrete brute from the 1960s, on a site offering stunning upper floor views of Wellington Harbour, has been significantly revitalised to accommodate various NZ Post businesses. Corporate playfulness is evident on the ground floor, where quirky pods house private post boxes, and on upper levels where ‘village green’ kiosks house social spaces. The big public gesture is the long internal street on the ground floor which activates the building and provides a pedestrian thoroughfare that, on Wellington’s more inclement days, offers a welcome, and of course suitably caffeinated alternative thoroughfare to windblown Waterloo Quay.
