Te Whanau o Tupuranga
This sensitive and thoughtful expansion of a bilingual school cleverly integrates new architecture into an existing building fabric. The architect’s consideration of the integrity of the existing structures has resulted in a powerful, functional and flexible place of learning. Budget constraints have been handled with imagination and empathy. Maori as tangata whenua of the school is reflected through its spatial hierarchy, selection of materials and sophisticated use of traditional colour.
