2016 New Zealand Architecture Awards Winner
Bramasole
In designing, with a high level of proficiency, this graceful and elegant house, the architects had to create their own parameters. The paddock setting offered no topographical conditions to work with or against, and it was up to the architecture to establish the site. Divided into quadrants around two axes, the house makes its stand but never gets bogged down. The architects had the confidence to risk the centrifugal effect of a big flat landscape by projecting a series of screened box forms. The detailing is excellent, the entry is intriguing and the whole composition is beguiling.
