Christchurch Bus Interchange/Whakawhitinga Pahi
Whakawhitinga Pahi, Christchurch's new public transport hub, is a sea change in the experience of commuter bus transport. The carefully considered functional aspects required to cope with high traffic are cleverly balanced by an airy, light filled hall that sits under an impressive roof structure. From the exterior, this building addresses the retail and civic aspects of a growing city, with terracotta-coloured panels providing a visual link to the remaining brick facades of the nearby collapsed buildings.
