2011 Wellington Architecture Awards Winner
Government House Conservation
The result of this significant heritage project, which was subject to a rigorous conservation process, is a revived building fit for its purpose as personal residence, working office, and national symbol of New Zealand’s Head of State. Under the Architect's leadership, the project team demonstrated an exceptional duty of care in conserving and revising this important building. The sensibility and pride of the team is evident in the quality of decision-making and in the built finish. With its improved legibility and clear and sensible planning, all within a considered wider landscape, the updated Government House respectfully references the past as it accommodates present and anticipates future use.
