2011 New Zealand Architecture Awards Winner
Foster House
A modern variation on the classical theme of the country house, the Foster House is a wonderful expression of the relationship of an Architect and client, and a testament to the enduring nature of that relationship. It remains, on its gentle terrace site, a beautifully ordered project. All elements, built and natural, cohere and complement each other to produce a quiet and calm effect. But the composition also allows for a dramatic play of scale, and over the years it has successfully accommodated the additions undertaken by the clients and their Architect.
