2013 Wellington Architecture Awards Winner
Waiata House
Strict lines separating the public and private realms of this building become blurred in the central atrium, a space that is also a key component of the passive environmental design. This generous, light-filled space is the organising element of the plan on a narrow and deep site. Elements from the former building on the site are incorporated into the architecture but the building is very much about the present and future. Designing to the specific requirements of the tenant has not constrained the architects; they have set the building up to anticipate other opportunities as Masterton evolves.
