2013 Southern Architecture Awards Winner
Pitches Store
In a project that sows a seed of regeneration in Ophir, a neglected 1880’s store has been brought back to life as a restaurant and hotel and now stands proudly in the charming main street of the tiny settlement. The sensitive refurbishment of the exterior is sympathetic to the building’s era and the roof has been rebuilt in its original form so that street views of the store mirror those of 1880. The building’s interior retains a record of its history over more recent times – its strengthening and service as a local garage – giving it an endearing rawness.
