Flaxmere Park Public Toilets
Functional and practical in form, this simple precast concrete structure incorporates abstracted harakeke leaves – sculpted coloured grooves that break the flat palette discouraging vandalism and matching the strong curved forms of the adjacent splashpad. High level perforated screens serve several purposes, providing ventilation, natural light and an aural connection to the exterior. The central location and inclusion of a new bench and low concrete wall create a welcoming public space which sits comfortably alongside the new playground.
