Hope Gardens of Remembrance Crematorium
Partly inspired by Chinese walled gardens, this grouping of pavilions creates a stillness not often experienced in Nelson buildings. Timber-lined ceilings float over the Chapel and Memorial Room, emphasising the ‘opening out’ to the beyond. The simple play of natural elements, stone, timber and flowing water are organised in clear, meaningful axes to create a quiet spiritual place of remembrance.
