2023 Canterbury Architecture Awards Winner
St Andrew's at Rangi Ruru
St Andrew's at Rangi Ruru, an historic Presbyterian church relocated in 1987, has undergone seismic strengthening, all while preserving heritage. The project retained the native timber interior, repaired the weatherboard cladding, inserted steel elements as unobtrusively as possible, and celebrates the original stained-glass window. The building is a heritage asset and one of the few of its age to survive the Canterbury earthquakes intact. Its restoration ensures continued use as the school's chapel and assembly space for generations to come.
