Reflecting the southern Spanish influence of the sublime food offered in this restaurant fitout, decorative hand-made tiled surfaces play against and fuse with the exposed concrete structure of the original 1930s heritage building housing it. All frontage and with little depth, the restaurant is cleverly organised as a series of shallow planes each made distinct via richly textured and coloured surfaces. Pressed against these elements, the space overall is felt more than it is viewable. This rich haptic quality creates a vibrancy and immediacy that is highly memorable.
