2022 Auckland Architecture Awards Winner
Te Aukati
Spanning between Harding and Fanshawe Streets, Te Aukati assembles a series of commercial tenancies serviced by a broad internal promenade. The promenade is in step with a new external stairway that replaces an old public walkway linking the clifftop with the original foreshore. Cognisant of the historical and cultural significance of its location, the project balances expansive spaces and atriums with subtly broken-down external volumes to deliver a building at once bold yet topographically and contextually sensitive. The project used sustainable material choices to achieve its NZGBC 6-star rating. Extensive EV and bicycle facilities, efficient thermal management, and an off-grid photovoltaic system on the roof create a richly innovative work environment.
