Sunderland Terrace
This extensive terrace housing for a developer client on a flat coastal site at Hobsonville Point responds to stringent space and cost constraints. Despite this, the development offers a series of subtly composed and aesthetically rewarding formal responses cleverly balancing variety, continuity, and disciplined coordination. Parred back where possible, yet offering up-close richness in places, the terrace houses similarly balance unit privacy with the pleasures of neighbourly awareness. Planted verges, and edge gardens along with subtle level changes at frontages produce an enjoyably walkable streetscape, while shared backyard parking, garaging and utility storage offers an informal social setting for neighbours and their kids. This considered approach has produced appealing homes meeting both the selling needs of the client and the living needs of those calling them home.
